Hindu temple to replace church hall

The Strathfield Council approved the construction of the temple.

South Wales:  A Hindu temple will be built after demolishing a church hall in South Wales, Australia.

The Strathfield Council approved the construction of the temple in Homebush, which will have an open courtyard with five shrines, including one of Ganesha deity.

The design of the temple will be based on traditional Hindu temple architecture from India.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA), applauded efforts of temple-project leaders and Sydney area community for the approval.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society.

He stressed that instead of running after materialism, we should focus on inner search and realization of self.
